Choosing plants that live well together

Light
Plants in one enclosure share one light level. Do not combine a shade fern with a sun-loving succulent.
Humidity
Check the humidity range of each plant. If the ranges do not overlap, one of them will suffer.
Size
Check mature size, not shop size. A tiny creeping fig cutting will fill a jar in a year; choose slow growers for small builds.
Animals
If animals will live there, choose plants marked as safe with animals, and tough species that will survive being walked on.
